Interlibrary Loan Request
Interlibrary loan is the process that allows requesting material
not available at the Windsor Public Library branches from other libraries.
In order to make an interlibrary loan request, you must enter your
contact information.
Patrons are limited to five (5) requests per week
Due to the large number of databases checked for your material, please
allow up to 6-8 weeks for materials to arrive
CHARGES
The Interlibrary Loan Dept (ILLO) always makes an effort to get
requested material from non-charging sources first.
However, if the item is only available from charging libraries, then
this charge must be paid by the user.
Microfilms are shipped free of charge from the National Archives and the
Archives of Ontario
Book charges could be anywhere from $8.00 to $20.00 and photocopy
charges could be less or more depending on the number of pages requested.
If the item is only available from a charging location, you will be
notified before the request is sent.
Note: The library does not request any audio/visual
material through the interlibrary loan system.
LOAN PERIOD & RENEWAL
The loan period is determined by the LENDING library, and
is subject to their renewal policies.
Patrons are advised to request renewal of their Interlibrary loan 3 days prior to its due date. We will try to renew any item that has not been deemed non-Renewable by the lending library. However, the initial loan period and any subsequent renewals are at the discretion of the lending library and may be denied at any time. In this case, staff will contact the patron and ask that the Interlibrary loan be returned within 3 days. Failure to do so could result in overdue fines.
