Tessa Virtue

Tessa Virtue (Tessa Jane McCormic Virtue) was born on May 17, 1989 in London Ontario. She is Canadian, World and Olympic figure skating champion together with her skating partner Scott Moir. She attended Holy Names High School in Windsor and studied psychology at the University of Windsor.

Tessa Virtue was originally trained in ballet and modern dance, but over time made a transition to ice dancing. Her skating career began in 1997 at 7 years of age, which was Tessa Virtuewhen she was also paired with her long time skating partner, Scott Moir. Together they won the 2004 Canadian Junior championship, and in 2007 they become the top ice dance couple in Canada. They began their international careers by winning silver medals in the 2008 World Championship, and  have been dominating ice skating  competitions ever since.
Tessa and Scott won the gold medal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, two silver medals in the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, and two gold medals in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games.

After her first Olympic gold in 2010 Tessa published a book  “Tessa & Scott: Our Journey from Childhood Dream to Gold” where she shared an incredible and inspiring story of  hard work and success. Virtue and Moir competed together for over 20 years and they are the most decorated and the longest standing ice dance team in Canada. Tessa Virtue retired from the Olympic competitions after the 2018 Olympic Games. She currently resides in Montreal, Quebec.
