Looking northwest at the corner of London Street (University Ave.) and Ouellette Ave. is this weeks Throwback Thursday Pic. Taken in the sometime in the 1950s, this photograph shows the Imperial Bank of Canada, Bata Shoe Store, F. W. Woolworth Company and S.S. Kresge Company. Today this block has changed little over the preceding 70 years, with the old Imperial Bank building virtually unchanged in appearance. The Bata Shoe Store and F. W. Woolworth buildings still stand, but their facades have been modified. Only the S.S. Kresge building no longer stands, having been replaced by modern four-story Royal Bank of Canada building.
