One of the first signs summer is winding up is the start of a new academic year. This week’s Throwback Thursday Pic was taken circa 1896 of the interior of the chemical laboratory classroom at Windsor Collegiate Institute. The school opened in 1854 as an elementary school and changed to a secondary school in 1871. In 1929, the school was renamed after local lawyer and politician J. C. Patterson. The school served the downtown population of Windsor until 1973 when it closed. The building was demolished in 1979, and today the land is a parking lot for a grocery store.
