OVERDUE FINES TO BE PARDONED – NO IFS, ANDS OR BUTS…

WPL is pausing the Fines Amnesty Campaign as we transition to temporary contactless curbside service. The campaign will resume at a later date. Check back often for updates.

Start the new year with a resolution you can keep!  In addition to pledging to lose weight, get in shape and follow a nutritionally balanced diet – why not return all of your overdue materials to Windsor Public Library?  We’ll pardon your overdue fines and make the materials available to other customers.

And now to the fine print:  return all of your overdue Windsor Public Library materials – together with a donated canned good – and we’ll pardon your late fines.  Fine Amnesty Month runs from January 3 through January 31, 2022 and with every canned good donated, $10 will be pardoned from your account.

Sounds like a perfect resolution to start the New Year!

“We want customers to return overdue materials and we want to welcome back customers who may be apprehensive to visit because of fines owing on their accounts. Come on in with your materials, talk to us and we’ll do everything we can to re-activate your account.  For the price of a canned good, fines will be pardoned and new library cards issued,” says WPL CEO Kitty Pope.  “Food banks will benefit and you’ll be able to enjoy the many services we offer.”

Customers with fines on their accounts, but with no lost materials, can contact WPL to arrange for the fines to be waived and their accounts unblocked.   Customers with lost or damaged materials are advised to talk to us!  Simply call us at 519.255.6770 or email us at customerservice@windsorpubliclibrary.com with the details about your situation and we’ll work to resolve your issue.

Materials can be returned to any WPL location.    All canned goods will be donated to local food banks.

I feel the library is being too generous with this pardoning of late fees.
Canned goods are relatively inexpensive & at the very least people should be able to provide 1 canned good for every $5 outstanding.
There is no other business that would completely waive late fees.
I would like the WPL to publish the total amount of outstanding fines and also how many items have not been returned.
Possibly the library could ask for volunteers to perhaps pick up items that have not been returned if circumstances warrant this service.
