Laurie Smith
Author. Poet.
A life-long resident of Windsor, Ontario, Laurie received her M.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Windsor, where she studied under the expert guidance of literary great, Alistair MacLeod. She is an accomplished author and has won several awards for her poetry and short fiction. She was the first ever recipient of the Adele Wiseman Poetry prize as well as a two-time recipient of the Mayor’s Awards of Excellence in the Arts.
A proud resident of the Riverside area, Laurie is currently the co-publisher and editor of Cranberry Tree Press, a cooperative publishing service based in Windsor. In addition to her writing and editing responsibilities, Laurie regularly hosts creative writing workshops.
Her collection of works include: Smack in the Middle of Spotlight Obvious, The Truth about Roller Skating, and By the River: New Poetry and Prose from the River Narrows.
