Windsor Public Library Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Windsor Public Library Board is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 4 pm at Central Library in the Ouellette Lobby.  The featured speaker will be Executive Director of the Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF), Director of the University of Windsor School of Creative Arts, marketing professor and big library supporter, Dr. Vincent Georgie.

Dr. Georgie will talk about ‘Reinventing our Public Libraries.’

Although he was raised in the Greater Toronto area, Dr. Georgie has deep roots in the Windsor area and at the University of Windsor. He earned an undergraduate business degree from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, an MBA from the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor and a PhD from HEC Montreal.  Before assuming the leadership of the School of Creative Arts, Dr. Georgie was director of the MBA program at the University of Windsor.

The WIFF has grown to become one of the most popular and most successful film festivals in Canada.  In 2005, it opened with an attendance of 1,000 and a screening of 20 films.  In 2017, 113 films were watched by over 22,000 people.

The AGM will include presentation of the Windsor Public Library 2017 Annual Report and the annual address by the library board chair.  The public is welcome to attend.

We are in receipt of your question regarding the sale of 850 Ouellette Avenue to the Downtown Mission which you posted to the library website. Please be advised that the matter was discussed by the WPL Board February 20 and Windsor City Council on February 28. As the matter dealt with the sale of property, both discussions were held In Camera. Thank you.
