Colm Feore

Actor.

Colm Joseph Feore is an American-Canadian actor. He has performed in dozens of roles on stage, and for television and film.

As a Colm Feorechild, Feore’s family moved from Boston to Windsor, Ontario, where he attended Georges P. Vanier Elementary School.

Colm Feore was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 22, 1958. Feore graduated from Ridley College in St. Catharines and then attended the National Theatre School of Montreal, from which he graduated in 1980.

Feore began his career as a member of the Acting Company at the Stratford Festival in 1981. By 1983, he became a member of the festival’s Young Company.

He was Stratford’s youngest-ever Romeo, and has performed leading roles in the company’s productions of Hamlet, Don Juan, King Lear, and Richard III. He began acting for film and television in the late 1980’s, but would be most recognized for his role as classical pianist Glenn Gould in the 1993 film, Thirty-Two Short Films About Glenn Gould.  In 1999, he won a Jutra Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Red Violin (1998). In 2002 he was awarded a Gemini for his performance as former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the television mini-series Trudeau (2002). In 2013, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
