James H. Shepherd
James Hatch Shepherd was a Canadian businessman, politician, and the 9th mayor of the City of Windsor. He also served on city council and as chairman of the Hydro Commission.
Shepherd was born in Ottawa on June 15, 1851. He moved to Windsor with his family at an early age, and worked at the department store Bartlet, Macdonald, & Gow. He would work for the company in different capacities for 56 years of his life. Shepherd also served as an 
alderman on Windsor city council for 18 years. He was elected as mayor of Windsor for one term in 1912, during which time he was instrumental in moving the municipal centre of the city from Sandwich Street to City Hall Park. After serving his term as mayor, Shepherd would spend most of his life working for the Hydro Commission, and was elected chairman of the commission in 1914. Shepherd married Miriam Melinda Elliott on November 23, 1881, with whom he had four children. He would pass away on July 14, 1928 due to complications from an appendicitis operation.
