To celebrate 125 years of library service to the community, WPL is featuring photographs from the local history collection and community archive. On a daily basis for the balance of December, we will present an interesting and unique image of our city, which we hope will fascinate and entertain.
Although Walkerville residents were welcome to use the Lambie’s Hall and Carnegie libraries on the same terms and conditions as Windsor residents, the Walkerville Public Library was organized in 1904. In the early 1920’s, the Walker family presented Willistead to the town . Upon amalgamation in 1935, Willistead became a branch of the Windsor Public Library. The Art Gallery of Windsor, incorporated in 1944, shared Willistead with the library until 1975 . Do you recognize any of the paintings adorning the walls during this children’s story in 1951?
