Calling all teachers or aspiring teachers…our first ever 4-week Teacher Academy is set to begin this Thursday, July 14th from 3:00pm-4:00pm at the Central Branch. Come for the introductory session to learn about what the library can offer teachers and their students, learn how to use our library catalogue to efficiently browse and store materials for units, and take a tour of our Central Branch.
Our second week, July 21st, will focus on our Databases. We’ll look at how these resources will help your students effectively research, as well as keep them entertained.
We’ll take a break and resume August 11th where we’ll take our popular App Cafe program and modify it for teachers (and students). Learn about all of the library resources you can download and use legally and at no cost with a smartphone or tablet.
Finally, on August 18th, come play with us in our new TechHUB. This space is teeming with technology that can fit into any curriculum. Equipment available includes a Silhouette Cutting Machine; Garage Band; 3D Printers; circuitry kits including Arduino, Makey-Makey, Little Bits, and Snap Circuits; robots including Lego Mindstorm, Ozobot, Ollie and Sphero; a Go-pro and still camera, along with editing software; a button maker; and K-nex (motorized).
Join us for all 4 sessions, or sign up for only the weeks you are available. Contact Jodie at 519-255-6770 x4434 or jdoe@windsorpubliclibrary.com to register or for more information.
