The new bookmobile is equipped to offer the same services as a regular library branch, including book lending, digital resources, and various programs for all ages.
The Bookmobile schedule can also be found in the Events Calendar.

is open 7 days a week in 9
locations in 2026. Hours of operation are also standardized as noon to 8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on all other days.

LIBRARY TO RECOGNIZE NATIONAL TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION DAY

Windsor Public Library will be marking the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada on Thursday, September 30 with displays of Indigenous content and resources at all branches and online at the Digital Branch. Check out a video on Truth and Reconciliation prepared by staff from the WPL Digital Branch In June, the government declared the day a federal statutory holiday, with the intent to nationally recognize the impact of residential schools in the country. RIVERSIDE MEMORIES PROJECT CELEBRATES CENTENARY

Windsor Public Library will soon be embarking on the Riverside Memories Project, our final event commemorating the centenary of the Town of Riverside.  The project will build – and digitize – a collection of Riverside memories including photos, documents, personal letters and family histories.  Residents will be encouraged to scan and preserve their old photos to share with family, friends and the WPL Local History collection. “Preserving history and memories is fundamental to visiting our past and connecting us all to the community,” says Ward 6 Continue Reading...

JOHN MUIR BRANCH RECOGNIZED BY THE ONTARIO LIBRARY ASSOCIATION

The new John Muir Branch of the Windsor Public Library has received a 2021 Ontario Library Association (OLA) Library Building Award.  The branch won the prestigious award in the library architectural and design transformation category, which recognizes additions, renovations, restorations and conversions to library use across Ontario. “The Muir project and resulting awards demonstrate that we ‘got it right’ and that the library is a community treasure to which our customers – of all ages – will return to, again and again,” says WPL Board Chair, Continue Reading...

WINDSOR PUBLIC LIBRARY TO RESUME NORMAL SERVICE

With Ontario reaching Step 2 of the provincial three-step Reopening Plan on June 30 – public libraries are once again in a position to welcome customers through their doors.  Windsor Public Library will resume normal library service – with reduced capacity limits – on Monday, July 5. On May 28, Canada and the world learned of  of the 215 children buried in an unmarked mass grave at Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia.  Windsor Public Library grieves this tragic loss alongside our friends and colleagues across Canada. GOOD NEWS: WPL BEGINS TO RE-OPEN

Finally, some great news as Ontario begins to re-open.  Windsor Public Library will cautiously begin to resume offering services over the next several weeks, culminating later this summer with all branches offering browsing and computer access. On June 21, branches will continue to provide curbside holds pickup and we will be resuming  in-branch computer and photocopier/scanner use with capacity limits.  Existing protocols will be in place and returned materials will be moving to a 24-hour quarantine period. RIVERSIDE REACHES 100: LET’S CELEBRATE!

It’s time to celebrate!  Although we can’t celebrate the way we had hoped, we’re organizing a series of events to commemorate the Town of Riverside turning 100. Now a much-loved neighbourhood in the City of Windsor, Riverside was incorporated as a Town in May, 1921.  Though amalgamated by the City of Windsor in 1966, Riverside still maintains its “small-town” charm with its walkability, great shops and bustling schools and a close-knit community of friendly people. IMPACT OF PROVINCIAL AND EMERGENCY STAY-AT-HOME ORDER

Windsor Public Library will be offering limited and modified service that aligns with the Ontario Provincial Emergency and Stay-at-Home order effective April 8, 2021. Windsor Public Library will only be open for curbside pick-up and delivery service.   All in-branch services are suspended.
