The new Bookmobile,
FRED 2.0 is here!
Click on Services in the menu above and then look for the bookmobile photo for more information.  Or you can use the link below to access the bookmobile calendar directly.
The new bookmobile is equipped to offer the same services as a regular library branch, including book lending, digital resources, and various programs for all ages.
The Bookmobile schedule can also be found in the Events Calendar.

is open 7 days a week in 9
locations in 2026. Hours of operation are also standardized as noon to 8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on all other days.

Library Hours Change Sunday September 15

Libraries across Windsor will switch to what has traditionally been labeled Winter hours on Sunday, September 15, 2024. The Central Branch, located at 185 Ouellette Avenue, Budimir Branch, 1310 Grand Maris Road West, and Riverside Branch, 6305 Wyandotte Street East, are each open from 1:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.  The seasonal change in hours will begin on Monday for all other branches. Outdoor Movie Nights are Back – Elemental on September 20th – Updated Rain Date Information

we’re open during the Sandwich St. Construction Project!

As part of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project, sections of Sandwich Street between Chappel Street and Chewett Street will be closed at various times starting May 30, 2024 for an estimated two months.  While parking and routes might be a bit restricted, both the Local History Branch and the John Muir Branch will be opened their regular hours for the duration of the work!  Keep in mind that we can always be reached remotely if that’s more convenient. HOOPLA UPDATE

On May 1, 2024, Windsor Public Library will be removing all existing price caps from Hoopla titles. This means that you’ll have even more great digital items—including the latest and popular movies, eAudiobooks, and eBooks—at your fingertips! Since Hoopla is a pay per use model, we will also be reducing the number of patron Hoopla borrows from 20 to 15 per month.  This will help offset the cost of enhancing this popular service while also continuing to offer other digital resources so that our patrons have Continue Reading...

WPL APP IS BACK!

Good news!  WPL’s app provider was able to come to an agreement with the company that supports the app.  This means our WPL Mobile app is once again functional! If you still have the WPL Mobile app on your device, you just need to log back in with your library card number and PIN.  If you’ve uninstalled the app, you’ll just need to reinstall it from the App Store or Google Play. BLACK HISTORY RESEARCH AT LOCAL HISTORY BRANCH

WPL’s Local History Branch is one of many community organizations helping to preserve and promote Black history within the Windsor-Essex County area.  Available at the branch are photographs, Windsor/Essex yearbooks, census records, voting lists, historical maps dating from 1790 forward, scrapbooks, newsletters, and access to early newspapers including; the Provincial Freeman and Voice of the Fugitive. All print items are for use in the Local History Library branch only.
