The new bookmobile is equipped to offer the same services as a regular library branch, including book lending, digital resources, and various programs for all ages.
The Bookmobile schedule can also be found in the Events Calendar.

is open 7 days a week in 9
locations in 2026. Hours of operation are also standardized as noon to 8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on all other days.

WPL Celebrates 125 Years

To celebrate 125 years of library service to the community, WPL is featuring photographs from the local history collection and community archive. On a daily basis for the balance of December, we will present an interesting and unique image of our city, which we hope will fascinate and entertain. Canada’s Book Week, Nov. 1 – 8, 1947, is the occasion for this display of new and noteworthy Canadian publications, carefully arranged by Windsor Public Library employees in the sumptuous surroundings of Willistead Manor....

Budimir Closed to Complete Renovations

Budimir Branch will be closed Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17 to facilitate a fusion between the recently completed new addition and the existing structure. Staff will be available at the McKay Avenue entrance to facilitate pick up of hold materials. Budimir Branch will open as scheduled on Wednesday, December 18. WPL Celebrates 125 Years

One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, on December 4 1894, Windsor Public Library first opened at Lambie’s Hall.  Library users who paid five cents for a library card could select from among 5,254 books and 60 periodicals.  Lambie’s Hall remained the Windsor Public Library for almost seven years, until the Carnegie Library opened in 1903.   The site on Ferry Street letter became the location of the Windsor Star building and is now home to the University of Windsor’s School of Social Work. Community Archives Moving

Windsor’s Community Archives is moving to 85 Pitt Street East. To facilitate the move, it will be closed from November 18, 2019 through January 6, 2020.  Appointments for viewing materials or consulting the archivist can be scheduled by calling 519-255-6770, Ext. 4414 or emailing archives@windsorpubliclibrary.com. Muir Branch Opens

The JOHN MUIR BRANCH is the newest in the Windsor Public Library system when it OFFICIALLY opened Saturday, September 28. The 1 pm ceremony at 363 Mill Street in Sandwich Town was attended by close to 300 local library lovers who were in awe of the transformation and commissioning of the 1921 Sandwich Fire Hall and Stable into a stunning 21st. century public library facility. The 7,400 sq. ft. branch (1,400 SF basement & 6,000 on 1st and 2nd floors) designed by architect Jason Grossi of Continue Reading...
